Witnessing The Glory Hole: Glory Hole Gallery, Queer Art Praxis, and 2SLGBTQ+ Micro-Gallery's as Sites of Creative Resistance and Community Building
No Small Acts Workshop
Abstract
This workshop traces the history of Glory Hole Gallery, the world’s first of its kind 2SLGBTQ+ micro‑gallery founded in Toronto in 2017, situating its emergence within my framework of Queer Art Praxis. As a creative, community‑rooted method of critical consciousness raising, Queer Art Praxis mobilizes Queerness as a rejection of normativity—including white supremacy, homonormativity, heteronormativity, and colonialism—through art‑making, curating, and community arts. Participants will engage in creative exchange, workshop ideas, and connect with others developing, or interested in developing, arts‑based initiatives that foster activism, collective meaning‑making, and solidarity‑driven cultural interventions.
